My Visit with a Princess
My name is Amy and Gina asked me to be a guest blogger on Madison's site. What an honor for me! So here I am!
I have known Gina for over nine years when we were both pregnant with our 8-year old sons. In August 2007 Gina and I got to meet in person when we and a group of other moms from our board met in Florida to attend one of our fellow mom's wedding. Our real life connection was as close as our online connection and we decided that it was time for me to travel down to Texas to go meet Madison and the rest of the Randolph Family. Last week I made teh the trek from Chicago, Illinois down to Los Fresnos, Texas and spent 8 days with Madison and her entourage. I just got home last night. It was a GREAT visit! Madison was nothing less than a gracious hostess and even let me use her princess bedroom. I felt like a princess myself! lol
But seriously, like all of you, I was devasted and deeply saddened when I learned about Madison's near drowning accident almost two years ago. And like all of you, I have diligently scoured Madison's site to read about her progress and updates. I knew from Gina's updates and photos that Madison is an amazing and beautiful little girl, but to meet her in person I was absolutely blown away by the miracle that is Madison. :*)The first thing I took notice about Madison is how much life and how much spark is in her eyes. Pictures do not do justice for the fire burning in Madison's eyes! It was an incredible thing to watch Madison's face light up and see her expression change in response to Gina and John talking to her. For me it was the experience of witnessing a miracle with my own eyes.
On my trip to Texas, I brought along my 8-year old and 1-year old sons. My littlest boy was immediately drawn to Madison and anytime she was around whether we were hanging around in the house or in the van where he was riding next to her in their side-by-side carseats, he had to be right next to Madison talking to her and touching her. I have alway believed that babies and small children have the ability to see things that older children and adults aren't able to see. And I truly believe with all my heart that my little boy was seeing all of Madison and it's only a matter of time before we're all able to see all of Madison again. Madison radiates life and not even her accident is able to stifle that!
For me personally it's so hard to be patient and wait for all of Madison to re-emerge. I know this impatience must be a million-fold for Gina and John. But together they plug along for Madison's sake and do whatever it takes to help Madison fight the good fight. The love and devotion surrounding that child is indescribable and so heartwarming. Gina and John are doing such an outstanding job with Madison and I know in my heart that every improvement she has made and continues to make is because of them. What a blessed child Madison is to have Gina and John for her parents. :*)And the other caregivers in Madison's life are truly remarkable. I have never seen so much love, care and concern surround one little person. And it is easy to see why everyone involved in Madison's life is so devoted to her ... she is a princess after all!
Please continue to lift up Madison, Gina, John and the Randolph boys in prayer and pray for all of Madison to re-emerge so that we can all fully see her as my youngest son is able to see her.
Madison, you are so well loved and we would all be beyond lucky to have even half of the love that pours out for you. You are such a special girl and a testament that God's miracles do indeed exist in the world today. It was such a joy and honor to meet you, spend time with you and get to know you. I cannot wait to see you again! Until then, keep getting better, Princess! And all my love to the Randolph Family!

Amy, thank you for sharing your experience here with us. Seeing Madison everyday sometimes allows us to forget about how much of a miracle she is. My own depression and hurt sometimes dosen't allow me to see the spark in her eyes...only the fact that she is so different than she was. It is good to hear from a "fresh eye" so to speak. We enjoyed having you here and don't you worry....princess madison will always be a part of your life, so you will get to witness her transformation!! Thanks again for blogging!

It was so great meeting you in San Antonio. What a lovely message you wrote. My husband and I along with the rest of the family are constanly looking for any and all signs of improvement. Sometimes we are impatient and discouraged, but I, like you,can't help but notice the bright sparkle of life in her eyes. We were together on Easter and at one point we commented how alive her eyes looked; you could just feel her spirit trying to emerge. Amy, I also wanted to to tell you how impressed I was with the wonderful job you are doing with your children. Maybe we'll get a chance to meet again sometime. Thank you again for taking the time to write about our wonderful Princess.It was truly inspirational.
